Cut for the body it is measured on
Made-to-measure and small-run ready-to-wear, cut in our own studio. Three fittings, the mill named on every piece, and alterations free for two years.
This season
Three runs of forty pieces each. When they are gone they are not remade.
The tailored run
Jackets and trousers in a 260gsm wool from one of the eleven mills we buy from, in Bhilwara. Forty pieces, half already spoken for.
The linen run
Shirting and wide trousers in a washed European linen. Cut loose deliberately — it will soften and grow about a centimetre in the first year.
Everyday knit
Crewnecks and long sleeves in a cotton-merino blend. The only run we repeat, because it is the one people come back for.
We name the mill because you should be able to check it
Every piece carries its mill, its composition and its weight on the label — not "premium fabric", which means nothing and is on almost every garment sold in this country. A 260gsm wool behaves differently from a 340gsm one in a Mumbai October, and you cannot make that judgement from a word. Where a cloth will shrink, stretch or pill we say so on the product page rather than in a care leaflet you read after buying.
The studio
Six people above a bookshop on Rampart Row.
From the fitting room
The third fitting is the one nobody else offers and the one that makes the difference. My first jacket came back twice and it fits like nothing I have bought off a rail.
Fittings are on Saturdays
Ninety minutes, no charge, and no obligation to order at the end of it.
Fittings, care and alterations
How long does made-to-measure take?
Six to nine weeks from the first fitting, and longer between October and December. If you need something for a date inside four weeks we will usually say no rather than rush the second fitting, which is the one that decides whether it fits.
What does it cost?
A made-to-measure jacket is ₹28,000–₹46,000 depending on cloth; trousers ₹11,000–₹18,000. The ready-to-wear runs are ₹4,500–₹14,000. Cloth is the variable and we will show you the price per metre before you choose.
What if it does not fit after delivery?
Bring it back. Alterations are free for two years on anything cut here, including the ready-to-wear. If it cannot be made to fit we remake it once, which has happened four times in eight years.
Do you ship?
Ready-to-wear anywhere in India. Made-to-measure only to people who have been fitted here at least once — a first commission taken from measurements sent by email does not fit, and we would rather not sell you one than prove it.
